Poetry And Portraits

Poetry is like painting a portrait, one word at a time.
You can make someone come alive, with the perfect rhyme.
A well written poem, draws you in and doesn't let you go.
Like a painters brush stroke, your words can put on a show.

A poet can get their inspiration, from a look or just a smile.
Words can paint a beautiful picture, depending on your style.
My nephew is a great artist, his portraits can draw you in.
I think the eyes are the secret, there's a story deep within.

The story can come out as poetry, at least it does for me.
Look into someone's eyes, you'll see their soul and history.
I think if you write poetry, you will also have a love of art.
The story behind the face, pulls the words from your heart.

Watching an artist draw a portrait, is like a symphony.
I love as it starts to comes together, like words in poetry.
I wonder when he's drawing, is the finish portrait in his mind.
When I start to write a new poem, the ending is undefined.

So next time you need inspiration, go to an art gallery.
The words will be screaming at you, to write some poetry.
Stare at a portrait and get lost in it, you'll be blown away.
The words will come flowing out of you, every single day !
